ICHS football reserve seating available
Irwin Indians reserve football seats are available at the ICHS office. Each reserve seat is $50 with a one-time booster fee of $25. Season reserve parking is $50. Tickets and parking may be purchased until the Sept. 10, first home game. To purchase or for information contact Krista Hester at 468-9421.

Football alumni name plates available
Permanent name plates in the Indian Fieldhouse are available for past varsity ICHS football players from the Football Alumni Board. The plates include the player's name, number and years played. The one-time fee is $100. To purchase or for more information, call Alan Gamble at 229-425-9343.

Defensive Driving Class for seniors
Seniors: Sign up for Defensive Driving Class at the Irwin County Senior Center. Class to be held Thursday, Sept. 9, 9 am to 3:30 pm. Material cost $14 – AARP members $12. Be a Safe Driver and earn insurance discount of 5-20%. To register call Diane Florence 468-9181.

Regional library to hold public meeting
The Coastal Plain Regional Library has applied to USDA Rural Development for Community Facilities funding totaling $5,500 for computers for the Irwin County Public Library. The library is holding a public meeting to inform citizens about the project and to seek comments/input. The meeting will be Thursday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at Irwin County Library in the Multipurpose room.

Big Hit Softball tourney Aug. 28
Irwin County Family Connection is sponsoring the Big Hit Softball Tournament August 28, starting at 9 a.m. at the Softball Complex near Irwin County High School. Admission is free. For any team (males 16 years old and older) that wants to play, a team representative needs to fill out the attached entry form and return to Laverne McConico at the Family Connection office.

Irwin Canning Plant has new hours
Irwin Canning Plant has new hours. It will open to process fall vegetables and peanuts Wednesdays only, hours 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For appointments, please call Wesley Paulk at (229) 424-3446.

Commodities to be distributed
Commodities will be distributed Thursday, Sept. 2, at 8 a.m. at the Community Service Center, 311 Vo-Tech Drive, Ocilla. For more information call Chaka Clark at 468-5186.

Five Bridge Road to be closed
Five Bridge Road will be closed September 7 to 12 due to repairs being made to the bridge near Old Valley Grove Church Road. Signs will be posted.

Tax office to close at noon Aug. 24
The Irwin Co. Tax Commissioner's Office will close at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 24 for staff to attend a Georgia Dept. of Revenue meeting.

Commissioners to meet Friday, Aug. 20
The Irwin Co. Commissioners will meet Friday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the Courthouse Annex to discuss the county budget.

4-H Day at UGA will be Saturday, September 4, in Athens. UGA football will open the season against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. Tickets are $47 each and they are limited. Tickets must be ordered by Wednesday, Aug. 11. Call the Irwin County Extension Office at 468-7409.

Family Connection to meet August 12
The Irwin County Family Connection, Inc., will hold a collaborative meeting Thursday, Aug. 12, at noon at the Irwin Board of Education Conference Center. Tracey Cox, a local children's book author, will be guest speaker. Topics will include the Connection's first softball tournament fundraiser and working on program sustainability and its drug-free initiative.

Football, cheerleading, soccer sign-ups
Irwin County Recreation Department's sign-ups for football, cheerleading and soccer will continue through Aug. 15 at the Irwin County Commissioners' Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The registration fee is $40. Call Dewayne Vickers at 229-468-9441 or 229-325-6804.

Football, cheerleading sign-ups August 14
Last sign-up for football and cheerleading will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m., Sat., Aug. 14 at the old football field. The groups are cheerleaders ages 3 to 7, $10; flag football ages 3 to 4, $10; and tackle football ages 5 to 6 and 7 to 8, $20.
