Marshall to meet in Ocilla, August 6 U.S. Congressman Jim Marshall will be holding a community meeting Friday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Irwin EMC, 915 W. Fourth St., Ocilla. Voters will have a chance to speak with Marshall about the economy, health care, energy prices and protecting American jobs while asking questions and discussing issues.
Family Connection to meet August 12 The Irwin County Family Connection, Inc., will hold a collaborative meeting Thursday, Aug. 12, at noon at the Irwin Board of Education Conference Center. Tracey Cox, a local children's book author, will be guest speaker. Topics will include the Connection's first softball tournament fundraiser and working on program sustainability and its drug-free initiative.

Honor football players with name plates Permanent name plates in the Indian Fieldhouse are available for past varsity ICHS football players from the Football Alumni Board. 4-H Day at UGA will be September 4 4-H Day at UGA will be Saturday, September 4, in Athens. UGA football will open the season against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. Basketball tourney seeks all-star teams The Tri-County All Stars Back to School Basketball Tournament will be held Aug. 6-7 at the old ICHS gym. Football, cheerleading, soccer sign-ups Irwin County Recreation Department's sign-ups for football, cheerleading and soccer will continue through Aug. 15 at the Irwin County Commissioners' Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. ICHS football reserve seating now available Irwin Indians reserve football seats are available at the ICHS office. Each reserve seat is $50 with a one-time booster fee of $25. Reserve tickets include the Aug. 13 Dodge County scrimmage. Season reserve parking is $50. Repeat ticket holders have the same seat available through Aug. 10. Open to everyone beginning Aug. 11.
