FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

First of all, what is ShopOcilla.com?

ShopOcilla.com is a community website designed to provide the latest information to the citizens of Irwin County and an outlet for Irwin County businesses and organizations to share information on the web. 

It includes:

  • Community Calendar: Free for Irwin County based groups and businesses to promote their events and meeting dates. 
  • Directory: A basic listing is free for Irwin County based businesses and organizations.  An extended listing is just $25 per year* (see note below) and includes a "mini web page" that can be used to provide detailed information including but not limited to address, phone number, website link, contact information, keywords, images and a detailed description of the business or organization.  If you prefer to have us create your customized extended listing to make sure that it contains all the right keywords then opt for a "Do it For Me" set up package for just $15.
    *Courtesy of the Irwin County Merchant Association:  All Irwin County based businesses are eligible for a FREE extended listing for 2 full years!  Register now and add your business listing.
  • Map:  an interactive Google map of Ocilla
  • Event/News Blog: Irwin County based groups/organizations/businesses submit a "press release" for FREE inclusion on the home page in the News and Event blog.  
  • Newsletter: an opt in newsletter for members of the community who wish to receive special notices about what is happening in Ocilla.  Businesses and local organizations may submit their news for inclusion in the opt in newsletter.
  • Coming SOON!  Coupons! We are developing a coupon section to allow local businesses to offer special deals to their customers.  If you are a local business please contact us to find out how you can submit your coupons to the coupon section!
All submissions to all areas of the site are moderated and are approved by a site administrator before they go live on the site.  If you have submitted an entry and it is not live within 2 business days please contact the site administrator via this contact form.

I want to submit information.  Do I have to register to do it?

Let's take this question in pieces:

Directory listings first!  Yes and no. We highly recommend registering before you submit a listing to the directory.  Registered members are able to easily modify their own directory listing at any time at no charge.  You can submit a directory listing without registering first but if you find that you need to change it later you will not be able to get to it!  Then you will have 2 options.  ONE, register, then contact us and ask us to assign your listing to you so you can edit it yourself.  Or TWO, pay a small administrative fee and get one of our site administrators to do it for you.  Whichever route works for you is fine with us!

You do not have to register to submit an entry to the calendar

You DO have to register to submit a press release or an announcement to be displayed on the home page blog.Once you register and log in you will see a User Menu with a link that is title "Submit News".  You will fill that page out and submit it.  An administrator will be notified and will approve and publish it.  If you have an item that needs to be published quickly please contact the site administrator via this contact form.

I'm not a business owner but I want to submit a press release or add a date on the calendar.  Can I?

YES!  We support all Irwin County based groups and organizations.  Please submit your information so we can help you share it!

I am a business owner and I want an extended listing with a "mini webpage".  I don't want to pay online.  Can I send a check?

Of course.   Just get in touch and we will have one of our customer service reps contact you to work out payment arrangement.  We offer all new businesses a FREE extended listing initially so contact us first to get more information.

Do you have ad space available on the site for local businesses or groups that can link to my website or just advertise my business or event?

Yes!  We offer very reasonable ad space for local business and groups.  We may accept an out of the area advertiser in special circumstances.  Some advertisement spots are even offered at no cost!  Please contact us for more information.

If I register or sign up for the newsletter will you send me a bunch of junk mail or share my email address with others?

NO!  We hate junk email too and would never do that to you.  You will only receive the notifications you sign up for when you register for the newsletter.  Registered members may receive an occasional notice regarding site modifications or special news but that's it. 

Also, you can opt out of the newsletter subscription any time you want!

There are some things I think you should add to or change on this site. Are you interested in hearing from me?

Yes, yes, yes.  We want the site to be a service to you and we want you to enjoy it and find it useful.  Tell us what you think, what you want, what you like and what you don't like.  We'll listen.
