Five Bridge Road to be closed
Five Bridge Road will be closed Sept. 7 to Sept. 12 due to repairs being made to the bridge near Old Valley Grove Church Road. Signs will be posted.

Regional library to hold public meeting
The Coastal Plain Regional Library has applied to USDA Rural Development for Community Facilities funding totaling $5,500 for computers for the Irwin County Public Library. The library is holding a public meeting to inform citizens about the project and to seek comments/input. The meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at Irwin County Library in the Multipurpose room.

Driver Safety Class for seniors Sept. 9
Seniors: Sign up for Driver Safety Class at the Irwin County Senior Center to be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m. New 6 hour class will focus on your life safety and the New GA laws on cell phones, texting, emailing and pickup trucks. Material cost $14 – AARP members $12. Be a Safe Driver and earn insurance discount of 5-20%. To register call Diane Florence 468-9181.

Community-wide yard sale Sept. 11

The Old Elementary School Renovation Committee is planning another community-wide yard sale event Sat., September 11, 8 a.m.-until, at the old school. Spaces available for $10 per household on school grounds; inside spaces $20 per household. Proceeds will be used for renovation needs. Call Tammy Vickers at 468-9114.

Advance tickets on sale for football
Advance Tickets for the Irwin vs. Fitzgerald football Game are available at the ICHS office. Advance general admission tickets are $7 and advance reserve seats including admission are $9. All tickets at the gate are $8. For more information call Krista Hester at 468-9421.

Masonic Lodge meets Thursday

The Irwinville Masonic Lodge will meet Thursday, September 2, at 7:30 p.m.

ICHS football reserve seating available
Irwin Indians reserve football seats are available at the ICHS office. Each reserve seat is $50 with a one-time booster fee of $25. Season reserve parking is $50. Tickets and parking may be purchased until the Sept. 10, first home game. To purchase or for information contact Krista Hester at 468-9421.

Football alumni name plates available
Permanent name plates in the Indian Fieldhouse are available for past varsity ICHS football players from the Football Alumni Board. The plates include the player's name, number and years played. The one-time fee is $100. To purchase or for more information, call Alan Gamble at 229-425-9343.

Big Hit Softball tourney Aug. 28
Irwin County Family Connection is sponsoring the Big Hit Softball Tournament August 28, starting at 9 a.m. at the Softball Complex near Irwin County High School. Admission is free. For any team (males 16 years old and older) that wants to play, a team representative needs to fill out the attached entry form and return to Laverne McConico at the Family Connection office.

Irwin Canning Plant has new hours
Irwin Canning Plant has new hours. It will open to process fall vegetables and peanuts Wednesdays only, hours 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For appointments, please call Wesley Paulk at (229) 424-3446.

Irwin County Indians football will now be broadcast on WSIZ 102.3 FM, including Friday's game against First Presbyterian Day School. (directions to game)
