The Annual Sweet Potato Motorcycle Rally is held the last weekend of October to coincide with the Georgia Sweet Potato Festival each year.

There are a variety of activities available for riders to enjoy and the Saturday morning parade is a huge hit with lots of colorful "characters" every year.

Five Bridge Road to be closed
Five Bridge Road will be closed Sept. 7 to Sept. 12 due to repairs being made to the bridge near Old Valley Grove Church Road. Signs will be posted.

Regional library to hold public meeting
The Coastal Plain Regional Library has applied to USDA Rural Development for Community Facilities funding totaling $5,500 for computers for the Irwin County Public Library. The library is holding a public meeting to inform citizens about the project and to seek comments/input. The meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at Irwin County Library in the Multipurpose room.
